'Peacework' is a pair of movements written for Stillwater's Valley Chamber Chorale, under the direction of Carol Carver. The work was commissioned and composed in late 2010 and premiered the following February. Peacework I is a clave-based piece for chorus, piano, and violin; Peacework II is a more somber meditation for chorus a capella. Working with Carol and the Valley Chamber Chorale was a truly joyful experience. I brought a difficult piece to the table, and they met it with an admirable work ethic. The audio on this page was recorded and mastered by James May on February 19, 2011. It is posted here as 256kbps mp3. I have included both movements' scores in PDF format to aid any interested and/or literate listeners. This does not, however, allow for the unauthorized performance of either movement; please contact me directly if you wish to perform 'Peacework' with your choir. Enjoy! |
